The 2010 NRF Open Assembly has been postponed until the fall of 2011. For more information, please visit the NRF site at www..nrf.is.

The theme "Our Ice Dependent World" is meant to address the impact of dwindling ice--terrestrial as well as ocean bound--on the complex interface of nature and society in all climatic zones of the world. In light of man-made aspects of climate change, the natural phenomena of ice are gradually becoming a concept of global politics affecting societal life in dramatic ways on a global scale. The 6th NRF Open Assembly will focus on the interrelationships of human and environmental dimensions of ice in a global context, and particularly in the Arctic, the Antarctic, and the Himalayans. Discussions are expected to highlight the role of research, the social relevance of science, and community in addressing the issues globally

The application for full travel funding for the participation of young researchers is open through Tuesday, 6 April 2010.

Durham University, United Kingdom

This conference provides an opportunity for postgraduates to present their research and meet others in the field of Quaternary science in a relaxed and friendly environment. The conference will be structured around four main themes: palaeoglaciology, sea-level change, palaeoclimatology and geoarchaeology/landscape evolution. Registration and abstract submission are now open and will close on Friday 5th August.

The Arctic Ungulate Conference is held every four years. The theme of the 2011 conference is "Challenges of Managing Northern Ungulates" and will address the difficulties of managing ungulate populations that are
faced with the unpredictable effects of climate change and an ever-increasing human presence on the land. The conference will also focus on the challenges associated with developing recovery actions for declining caribou and reindeer populations that are an integral part of Aboriginal cultures and ways of life.

The conference will provide an opportunity for biologists, managers, Aboriginal groups, co-management boards, researchers, students, and resource users to discuss northern ungulate research and management with their circumpolar peers.

Beijing, China

Over the past three decades, China has experienced a dramatic change in economical development which has resulted in accelerating rates of landscape change and the inevitable conflicts between man and environment. China now faces the challenge of developing landscape practices that will provide a basis for economic growth as well as environmental security.

By organizing the IALE Congress, we wish to bring these issues to the attention of international scientists and to establish a platform for them to start cooperative research projects in China. We welcome all IALE members and interested individuals to participate in this congress in Beijing with our full hospitality. We expect to provide a rich academic and social experience that participants in IALE World Congresses have always enjoyed.
