From 2005 through 2023, the Arctic Research Consortium of the United States (ARCUS) hosted Arctic Community Meeting Rooms and side-events at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting. These gatherings provided dedicated space for project team meetings, research coordination, science education planning, and collaboration across the Arctic research community. This long-standing service was supported by the National Science Foundation’s Section for Arctic Sciences.
The meeting rooms served as a vital hub for connection, enabling researchers, educators, Indigenous knowledge holders, and policy stakeholders to gather and advance Arctic research and education.
In 2024, the National Science Foundation concluded its support for this activity, and ARCUS will no longer be offering Arctic Community Meeting Rooms at the AGU Fall Meeting. We encourage those planning Arctic-related meetings to explore alternate venue options provided by AGU.
We thank the many collaborators who helped build and sustain these annual community gathering spaces and celebrate the relationships, ideas, and initiatives that took shape through nearly two decades of shared effort.
