ARCUS at National Park Service Centennial Science and Stewardship Symposium

Website: National Park Service Centennial Science and Stewardship Symposium
Panel: "Science Communication and Collaboration: Getting the Science from the Heads of the Researchers into the Hearts of the People"
Day: Thursday, 20 October
Time: 9:30 am – 11:00 am
Location: Wood Center, Conference Room EF
Janet Warburton, ARCUS, will be presenting on a panel session on science communication.
Panel Description:
This session explores existing communities of practice currently engaged in research and science communication around Alaska and incorporates multiple perspectives and strategies. We will begin with short presentations from three outreach communities - the Earth to Sky Interagency Partnership, Arctic Research Consortium of the US (ARCUS), and the Sea Grant Program. We will then facilitate a dialogue engaging all participants by exploring a series of questions, building on what has been presented so far and exploring ways to collaborate further. The goal is to examine what models are working, to identify innovative products and new strategies, and to envision successful approaches for the future.
A poster session associated with this topic is also planned.
ARCUS Open House/Drop-in Event

All attendees of the National Park Service Symposium are invited to visit with members of the ARCUS staff and discuss ideas about how to better connect and support Alaska, northern, and Arctic research and promote informed decision making. Come learn about ARCUS programs and services that can advance your efforts through collaboration across organizations, geographic boundaries, and disciplines. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact Betsy Turner-Bogren, ARCUS (betsy [at] arcus.org). ARCUS membership information is available here.
