ARCUS would like to thank all the student scholarship recipients for their hard work and contributions to the SEARCH Open Science Meeting. The SEARCH poster sessions were especially enriched by the excellence of student scholarship. Three students were recognized for their posters' outstanding contributions to arctic environmental change research as part of the SEARCH Open Science Meeting student poster competition. Twenty-five posters were submitted for the competition. For further details on the judging criteria and awards, and to view student posters and abstracts, click here.

Student Scholarships

Limited scholarships were available to encourage the involvement of young investigators in the SEARCH Open Science Meeting (OSM) and subsequent related research programs. Decisions about scholarship awards were based on a combination of merit and need, and were made on a first-come,first-served basis.

Students receiving scholarships to attend the SEARCH OSM were expected to:

  1. Present a poster at the meeting; or

  2. Participate in one of the following:

a. Assist the organizers and sessions chairs with some aspects of the proceedings;

b. Help to organize a special student session during the meeting.

Support offered ranged from waiving the registration fee to providing some support for travel or lodging during the meeting.

Student participation at the SEARCH OSM was sponsored by the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Department of Energy Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program, the Alaska Native Science Commission, and ARCUS.
