Toolik Field Station (TFS) invites applications for a Communications & Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) Manager. This term-funded, full-time, year-round position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Toolik Field Station is seeking an enthusiastic person to further develop their communications and outreach initiatives, and to serve as their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity coordinator. This position will be based out of Fairbanks at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), with occasional trips to the field station. The Communication and DEI Manager will serve as lead for developing and implementing TFS communications and outreach program to the scientific community and the general public. The successful candidate will also lead the development of the TFS DEI program for staff and visiting scientists, and will serve as the primary liaison between TFS and the UAF Office of Equity and Compliance. TFS has some policies and trainings relating to DEI at TFS in place already, but this is an area that they are seeking to expand.

Applicants should have scientific training at a graduate level, experience with science communication to a variety of stakeholders, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, experience and/or interest in working on DEI issues in higher education, and experience coordinating events and providing logistic support.

Toolik Field Station is a research station operated and managed by the Institute of Arctic Biology at UAF. TFS provides logistical, operational, and scientific support to visiting scientists conducting Arctic research. Located 370 miles north of Fairbanks, Alaska and about two degrees north of the Arctic Circle. The field station population ebbs and flows throughout the year with a minimum population of four in the winter and up to 150 in the summer.
