Organizers invite session propsals for the International Glaciology Society (IGS) Symposium on Sea Ice. This symposium will convene 19-23 August 2019 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The theme of the symposium is Sea Ice at the Interface.

Symposium Description:

Sea ice plays a crucially important yet highly dynamic role in global climate, polar marine ecosystems, and Indigenous cultures. The dramatic changes in sea icescape and freshwater-marine coupling, particularly from glaciers, ice sheets, melting sea ice, and continental runoff, have major implications for environmental and ecological integrity, and regional and global socioeconomic development. This symposium presents an opportunity to showcase recent advances in knowledge and technological capabilities, and to encourage discussions of the most recent change, long-term trends, and variability in the sea ice environment in both hemispheres.

Proposals should include:

  • Session title,
  • Session organizers and affiliations, and
  • Session description or motivation (maximum of 200 words).

Proposals should be submitted via email to Feiyue Wang at feiyue.wang [at] umanitoba.ca.

Proposal submission deadline: 30 September 2018
