OVERVIEW
The successful candidate will investigate the sensitivity of benthic
organisms and communities to petroleum-related discharges in Arctic and
mid-latitude marine ecosystems. The investigation is part of a research
program examining the long-term effects of discharges related to
offshore petroleum development.

The position is financed by the Research Council of Norway (NFR) and
administered through the project research consortium consisting of
Akvaplan-niva AS, Norwegian Institute of Water Research, and the
University of Tromso Norwegian College of Fisheries Science (NFH).

ELIGIBILITY
The applicant should have a background in marine biology, ecology,
ecotoxicology, and/or biological oceanography. He/she should also be
familiar with applied statistical analyses, be willing to work under
rigorous Arctic field conditions, and be able to work independently and
as part of a group. Previous experience with benthic processes and the
effects of contaminants on marine organisms would be an asset. Fluency
in English is required and working knowledge of Norwegian (or another
Nordic language) is desirable.
