BACKGROUND
Oregon State University, Department of Geosciences invites applications
for a postdoctoral position to develop a dry extraction system for
analyzing carbon dioxide and other gases in trapped air in ice core
samples and investigating CO2 variations during the last glacial period.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must hold a Ph.D. in geochemistry or a related
field by the time of appointment and have analytical laboratory
experience.

Desired qualifications include experience with one or more of the
following:
- Trace gas analysis in air using gas chromatography and other methods
- Vacuum systems
- Design and fabrication of analytical instrumentation
- Paleoclimatology
- Ice cores
- The global carbon cycle

Strong technical and communication skills and the ability to work
independently are also essential.
