PARTICIPATION
The WILD Foundation is currently inviting participants for the Symposium
on Science and Stewardship to Protect and Sustain Wilderness Values. We
are soliciting general ideas for sessions, panels, topics for discussion
and specific presentations.

The symposium will be structured to enhance international and
intercultural communication, and will integrate poster presentations
into oral presentation sessions to increase one-on-one dialogue.
Participation will be either through oral presentations or on a "panel
of posters" for each topic.

WILD also invites proposals for chairing sessions on the following topics:
- Living with Nature: The Human/Wilderness Connection
- Northern Wilderness Issues
- Economics & Wilderness
- The Role of Wilderness in Terrestrial, Marine, and Freshwater
Biodiversity Protection
- Stewardship of Existing Wilderness

HISTORY
Initiated by The WILD Foundation in 1977, the World Wilderness Congress
(WWC) is now the longest-running, public, international environmental
forum. With over 25 years of conservation achievement, the WWC has
become a high-profile platform for debating and acting on complex
wilderness and wildlands issues.

The WWC convenes every three to four years around the world, and is
always focused on wilderness and people. Previous Congresses have met in
South Africa, Australia, Scotland, the USA, Norway and India. The 8th
WWC will be held in Anchorage, Alaska, Thursday, 30 September -
Wednesday, 6 October 2005, with associated events in Kamchatka and the
Russian Far East. Approximately 1,000 delegates from over 40 nations
will attend.
