The 85th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society is being
organized around the broad theme of "Building the Earth Information
System" and the role that science can play in decision-making for
society. Two integrating sub-themes that will be highlighted are "Living
with a Limited Water Supply" and "Living in the Coastal Zone".

Papers for the 8th Conference on Polar Meteorology and Oceanography are
solicited on all aspects of polar meteorology and oceanography.
- modeling and observing cloud-radiation interactions
- atmosphere/sea-ice/ocean exchanges
- polar ice sheets
- the stable boundary layer
- high latitude chemistry in both the ocean and the atmosphere
- hydrological processes
- polar lows
- large-scale climate and climate change and model intercomparison
results.
- recent and upcoming field programs

A special joint session having the theme "The Polar Coastal
Environment" is planned with the Sixth Conference on Coastal Atmospheric
and Oceanic Prediction and Processes. For the joint session papers on
all aspects of the polar coastal environment will be welcomed including
such topics as:
- air-sea-ice interactions
- land-ocean exchange
- freshwater balance
- shelf processes
- river outflows
- landfast ice processes
- ocean tides

Please submit your abstract electronically via the Web by Monday, 2
August 2004 to:
