BACKGROUND
The Nasivvik Centre for Inuit Health and Changing Environments at Laval
University is one of eight research and training centres established in
Canada by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research - Institute for
Aboriginal Peoples Health (ACADRE Program). The focus of these centres
is to build capacity in Aboriginal health research throughout the
country.

The Nasivvik Centre is searching for a post-doctoral researcher to help
develop a multi-disciplinary research program in Inuit traditional
medicines.

OBJECTIVES
(1) To provide recognition and funding to academic researchers on Inuit
medicines and plants early in their career
(2) To support the development of innovative, highly skilled, and
qualified researchers on issues of concern to Inuit
(3) To develop a multi-disciplinary team and research program on Inuit
traditional medicines

ELIGIBILITY
The program is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of
Canada at the time of the application. The candidate must hold, or be
completing a PhD or a health professional degree (or equivalent).
Candidates with more than five years of post-PhD research training by
the competition deadline are NOT eligible to apply for this award. Any
interruption in a candidate's post-PhD research training will be taken
into account in determining eligibility. Individuals wishing to
undertake post-PhD research training in the same research environment
(same department, supervisor, or co-supervisor) in which they received
their PhD are NOT eligible for this position.
