Following the success of last year's Winterer's Gathering & Arctic Film
Festival, the North House Folk School, an educational nonprofit
organization based in Minnesota, USA, is soliciting film
nominations/suggestions for the 3rd annual Arctic Film Festival.
Following the success of last year's Arctic Film Festival - with over 28
films from 9 different countries nominated - the Arctic Film Festival is
a growing component to the overall event. Eight films were screened last
year as part of the event, drawing nearly 500 film goers. The films
screened drew from the creative resources in the film industry -
particularly innovative, independent films and filmmakers that capture a
sense of place of the arctic region.
Individuals and organizations working on Arctic issues, ranging from
history, culture, environmental, social, language, etc. are asked to
submit up to three film nominations to this year's festival. We hope
that your nomination will enhance the diverse range of issues related to
the Arctic. Further, we hope that your nomination will inspire awareness
of northern cultures, the arctic environment, and the human connection
to the northern regions of the globe.
The aim of this request is to strengthen the links between the various
individuals and organizations involved in enhancing arctic learning
opportunities by asking for nominations for films to be shown at North
House Folk School's Winterer's Gathering and Arctic Film Festival.
Films may be nominated in four categories:
(1) Classic
(2) Documentary
(3) Ethno/Historic
(4) Expedition
