The Sustainable Water Management and Resource Adaptation (SWMRA) - 2nd Edition conference addresses critical issues surrounding water sustainability, pollution, and ecosystem protection. The event aims to bring together global experts, researchers, and practitioners to explore solutions through innovative technologies, interdisciplinary research, and collaborative efforts. Topics include emerging contaminants, advanced water treatment methods, climate change adaptation, the water-energy-food nexus, and integrated water resource management. Participants will discuss strategies for managing water in both urban and rural areas, protecting aquatic ecosystems, and enhancing resilience against climate-related impacts on water systems.

The "Urban Regeneration and Sustainability" conference, hosted by IEREK and the University of Palermo, provides a platform for experts to explore innovative solutions and collaborate on transforming urban spaces. The conference focuses on sustainable urban planning, infrastructure improvements, and community engagement to create resilient, inclusive, and environmentally friendly cities for the future.

Sitka WhaleFest celebrates marine life through science, art, culture, and adventure. Attendees of all ages and backgrounds leave WhaleFest with a deeper connection to the ocean. The core of Sitka WhaleFest is the three-day Science Symposium, where scientists and knowledge-bearers share the latest research and learning about marine life. This symposium is for everyone: speakers highlight the relevance and accessibility of their knowledge to people from all walks of life.

Organizers invite proposals for special sessions at the Eighth International Symposium on Arctic Research (ISAR-8). This meeting will take place 28-31 October 2025 in Hachioji City of Tokyo, Japan.

The scientific program of ISAR-8 consists of Plenary, Regular, and Special sessions. In addition to 10 Regular sessions, proposals for special sessions are now solicited. Sessions with interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary themes as well as those focusing on specific topics are encouraged.

Regular Session topics include:

Atmosphere;
Ocean and sea ice;
Rivers, lakes, permafrost, and snow cover;
Ice sheets, glaciers, and ice cores;
Terrestrial ecosystems;
Marine ecosystems;
Geospace;
Laws, politics, and economy;
Language, culture, and environment; and
Engineering for sustainable development.
The proposers of the session are expected to be the conveners who determine acceptance of individual abstracts (accept/reject), the format of presentations (oral/poster), orders, and the time length of each oral presentation. They are also responsible for facilitating the presentations during the session.

In-person NSF-supported workshop focused on bringing together AI and ML practitioners, instructors, and other experts to collaboratively improve and expand upon existing curriculum while designing an extensible framework for delivering training in different course formats. Applications closed June 30th.

New Insights in Polar Law brings together early-career (EC) scholars from the University of Akureyri, Iceland and Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland (the New Insights cohort) to identify, explore and present key issues in polar law. They meet at Ilisimatusarfik to exchange ideas about the most pressing issues facing the Arctic and potential strategies to address them. They present their insights at the 18th Polar Law Symposium (18 PLS) in Nuuk. They meet twice following 18 PLS: once in person to reflect on the 18 PLS; and once a few weeks later in hybrid format to consider the future of polar law and their own potential contributions. They write a Final Outcomes report on the activity, identifying priorities for future research in polar law. The report is shared with ICARP IV Research Priority Teams and other research planners. The activity provides a platform for new scholars and emerging leaders in Arctic affairs to communicate their perspectives and to network with Indigenous leaders, senior scholars, policy-makers and other experts.

The New Insights cohort chooses the issues and decided how to organise their panel at 18 PLS under the guidance of experienced academics who act as facilitators for the workshops. The 18 PL
