The Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) announce their upcoming IARPC Public Webinar Series event featuring the Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Program. This webinar will take place Wednesday, 12 July 2023, 10:00-11:00 a.m. AKDT.

Join IARPC for a webinar on the Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Program’s (CBMP) Coastal Monitoring Plan implementation. CBMP is an international collaborative effort involving scientists, governments, Indigenous Peoples' organizations, and others, all dedicated to holistically monitoring coastal ecosystems of the Arctic. This webinar will present an overview of the plan and emphasize the meaningful engagement of Indigenous Knowledge working with science for the co-production of knowledge, and the use of shared Indigenous Knowledge and science for knowledge mapping of Alaska’s coastal ecosystems for a holistic assessment.

Speakers include Cathy Coon (Bureau of Ocean Energy Management; U.S. co-lead of the Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Program), Tahzay Jones (National Park Service; co-lead, Coastal Steering Group), and Ben Charles (Inuit Circumpolar Council), acknowledging significant contribution and collaboration in working together.
