The Association of American Geographers (AAG) announces the Polar Geography and Cryosphere special sessions topics and calls for abstracts for the 2013 AAG Annual Meetings. The meetings will be held 9-12 April 2013 in Los Angeles, California.

Polar Geography and Cryosphere special sessions include the following:

  • Health and Human Development in the Arctic, organized by Andrey Petrov (andrey.petrov [at] uni.edu);
  • Climate Change and its Impact in the Polar Regions, organized by Andrey Petrov (andrey.petrov [at] uni.edu);
  • Urbanization in the Arctic, organized by Andrey Petrov (andrey.petrov [at] uni.edu);
  • The Greenland Ice Sheet, organized by Robert Hellstrom (rhellstrom [at] bridgew.edu);
  • New Advances in Cryosphere Research, organized by Robert Hellstrom (rhellstrom [at] bridgew.edu);
  • Cryospheric and Polar Educational/Field Experiences for Students, organized by Robert Hellstrom (rhellstrom [at] bridgew.edu);
  • Polar Geography and Cryopshere poster session, organized by Andrey Petrov (andrey.petrov [at] uni.edu) and Robert Hellstrom (rhellstrom [at] bridgew.edu).

Other sessions will be considered if there are sufficient submissions. Graduate students and young scholars are encouraged to apply. Presentations with complete documentation will be considered for publication in the journal "Polar Geography"(see: http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/tpog20/current).

Prior to submitting an abstract to one of the sessions, please register for the AAG annual meeting and obtain a PIN. To submit an abstract to a session, please send the text and your PIN to the session organizer.
