Session conveners announce their session, Amplifying Climate Adaptation Partnerships in the Arctic, taking place during the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting. This session will convene Monday, 11 December, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Pacific Time in Hall E - North (Exhibition Level, North) of the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.

Session Description:

Session INV13B: Amplifying Climate Adaptation Partnerships in the Arctic
Conveners: Jessica Garron and Ryan Toohey

Adapting to the climate change crises in the circumpolar North requires a multidisciplinary team of people invested in positive change. In Alaska, these teams are often composed of Alaska Native community, university, boundary organization, and agency partners working together to identify new ways of adapting to Alaska’s changing climate. Though engagement strategies, research methods, and policy mandates are known, the effective synthesis of these adaptation strategies remains variable in both applications and outcomes across the Arctic. Our goals for this session are to highlight successful multidisciplinary strategies, team dynamics, and outcomes in addressing different components of climate change adaptation throughout the Arctic, while providing networking opportunities for practitioners working in this space. This Innovation session will include a short presentation on the session concepts used, a participant-driven, Arctic adaptation, tabletop exercise, and conclude with a share circle highlighting outcomes and successful strategies for sharing those results beyond your team. This session is designed to support co-learning among Arctic climate adaptation practitioners from all disciplines and backgrounds.
