Join the Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S. (ARCUS) at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting, held 9-13 December 2019 in San Francisco, California.

ARCUS will be hosting and attending many events throughout the week, including:

  • Arctic Funders Meet and Greet networking event: An informal opportunity for Arctic researchers to connect in-person with multiple agency program officers to gain insight into each organization’s Arctic research interests;
  • 2019 Arctic Research Community Reception: All members of the international Arctic research community are invited to join their Arctic research colleagues in conversation, networking, and socializing;
  • AGU Session PA54A - Growing Pains: Overcoming Obstacles and Working Together to Improve Research Collaboration in Science I: This session explores convergence and trans-disciplinary research project approaches and frameworks; the development and facilitation of successful research teams and communities; and ideas for community-wide strategies promoting equitable and effective collaborations across disciplines and knowledge systems; and
  • AGU Panel and Poster Sessions ED11A, ED12B, ED13F - Making Science Relevant: Strategies for Communicating Science to Broad Audiences: Presentations and posters about effective communication strategies, examples of successful formal and informal education outreach activities, and use of social media to share your science messages, both from the field and in the community.

ARCUS is also hosting two Arctic Community Meeting Rooms, available by reservation for groups working on Arctic research and science education planning activities. Meeting room requests can be submitted online.

ARCUS staff and board members hope to see many of our colleagues and friends—and meet new ones—at the ARCUS-related events at AGU this year!

The Sea Ice Prediction Network – Phase 2 (SIPN2) will be hosting an open meeting, organized to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration among members of sea ice research community. SIPN2 will also be presenting a poster summarizing SIPN2 activities and discussing lessons learned on how to develop and sustain collaborations across disciplines and sectors.
