The Department of Geography at the University of Calgary invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Arctic marine and atmospheric science research using mobile labs. This two-year position will be located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The successful candidate will contribute to consultations with communities in the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut, Canada on community research priorities and uses for mobile, green energy research labs (see: https://vimeo.com/264678242). The candidate will also conduct research in a related field that could utilize the natural science capabilities of the labs, including, but not limited to, eddy covariance measurements of gas exchange over sea ice and ocean surfaces; utilizing pH, pCO2, and other sensors to monitor ocean acidification and biogeochemistry; and relevant fields of atmospheric science, oceanography, or sea ice biogeochemistry.

Applicants must hold a PhD in a field related to geography or Earth science, awarded in the past five years; have a strong research record reflected by publications in international journals; and be an independent researcher.

Experience in both natural and social science research fields, working with multi-stakeholder groups, and organizing community consultations or workshops will be advantageous.
