The Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S. (ARCUS) invites applications for the position of Administrative Assistant. This non-exempt part-time position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.

ARCUS is a nonprofit consortium that has been connecting Arctic research since 1988. Arctic research often cuts across multiple disciplines, organizations, nations, and populations. ARCUS provides intangible infrastructure to support the formation and enhancement of connections across these boundaries, working toward a more holistic understanding of the Arctic. Supported by government agencies, foundations, and others who share a desire to advance Arctic knowledge, ARCUS maintains a portfolio of programs to communicate, educate, coordinate, and collaborate to advance Arctic understanding.

General responsibilities will include travel planning, workshop planning support, assistance with ARCUS programs, and general administrative support.

The successful candidate will:

  • Thrive on attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Have excellent organizational skill;
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Manage time well to complete tasks on deadlines;
  • Be skilled at editing for clarity, grammar, spelling, and formatting;
  • Be proficient with standard word processing, spreadsheet, email software, and general computer skills; and
  • Have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Some travel may be necessary, no more than twice per year, resulting in increased hours and associated overtime.

This is a part time position paid on an hourly basis and will report to a Project Manager. The schedule will be 15-20 hours per week generally within normal office hours, but with flexibility in coordination with the position's supervisor.
