Abstract deadline 30 April 2003

To celebrate ten years of progress in World Climate Research Programme
(WCRP) research on the Arctic climate system and its role in global
climate, ACSYS will hold its final scientific conference 11-14 November
2003. The conference will draw together advances in our understanding of
the Arctic climate system made over the last decade and examine the
challenges for future research.

Session themes will address:
-The State of the Arctic Climate System
-Observing the Arctic Climate System
-Process Studies and Modelling
-Interactions with the Global Climate System

In a final session, a panel discussion will examine the question:
-"What are the important gaps in our knowledge", and consider
opportunities and initiatives to address them.

The conference will include oral presentation of invited keynote
lectures and contributed papers. There will also be poster sessions to
allow presentation of a wide range of relevant studies. The proceedings
of the conference will be published as a volume or special section of a
fully refereed journal, depending on the number of suitable manuscripts
submitted.

To aid in conference planning, we ask that you immediately register your
intent to participate at the conference website:
http://acsys.npolar.no/meetings/final/conf.htm
or by e-mail to acsys [at] npolar.no.

The following preliminary registration information is required:
1) Participant name, phone and fax numbers, e-mail and postal addresses
2) Abstract title

Contributions are solicited on any research topic related to the Arctic
climate system and its role in global climate. Contributions addressing
the session themes listed previously are especially encouraged.

Abstracts should be submitted via the conference web site no later than
30 April 2003. Instructions will be available on the same web site in
early 2003. If you have any questions about the submission, please
