I work with Russian collages from the Polar Research Institute of Marine Fisheries and Oceanography (PINRO) to continue a long term monitoring of mega-benthos of the Barents Sea. These data are used for publications (see Research Gate) and in working Groups within the Arctic Council (CBMP_Marine) and the Norwegian Management plan. I lead a "Coast and Fiord" Flagship in the FRAM center in Tromsø for providing science based advises for management of the Norwegian Arctic, including Svalbard.

Science Specialties

marine biology, benthic ecology, environmental studies, long term monitoring, ecosystem based management

Current Research

Arctic benthic mega- and macrofaunal associations in the Barents Sea and Russian Kara Sea, and along the coast and in fiords of Northern Norway and West Svalbard. Effects on benthos from climate change, bottomtrawling, new predatory species. The use of benthos in management.
