The Marine Biological Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral scientist to join a National Science Foundation-funded project addressing how saltwater intrusion into coastal tundra in northern Alaska is altering greenhouse gas fluxes, porewater chemistry, and solute exchanges between tundra soils and adjacent estuarine waters. This full-time position will be located in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

This is a collaborative project that includes investigators from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Woodwell Climate Research Center as well as the Marine Biological Laboratory. The position will be based in Woods Hole, but will include travel to the Alaska Beaufort Sea coast for field work. The appointment is for two years, extendable to 2.5 years pending performance.

A PhD in the geosciences or related field and research experience that is relevant to the position are required. PhD research focusing on aquatic biogeochemistry, including element transport and cycling in groundwater, river, and/or estuary systems; experience working under challenging field conditions; and a desire to work in a collaborative environment are preferred.

Rolling review of applications will begin 15 April 224, with an ideal start date in fall 2024.
