The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) invites applications for two Assistant Professor positions in Marine Policy. These tenure-track, full-time (nine-months of annual state support) positions will be located in Fairbanks or Juneau, Alaska.

Expertise is preferred in one or more of the following areas:

  • Mariculture policy and management,
  • Marine spatial planning,
  • International and high seas fisheries policy and management,
  • Arctic marine policy,
  • Maritime law,
  • Coastal community economic development, or
  • Co-management of tribal and Indigenous fisheries.

Prior experience working with resource management agencies, coastal communities, or tribes is desirable.

Required knowledge and skills include:

  • Demonstrated English proficiency;
  • Experience teaching at the university level;
  • Ability to teach two to four courses per year, including one or more of the courses already included in the Master of Marine Policy (MMP) program;
  • Ability to develop one or more MMP program courses in their area of expertise;
  • Ability to work with private and public external constituencies through service as a member of science and policy advisory bodies to state, federal, tribal, and international marine and fisheries policy organizations; and
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines and institutions.

Applicants must hold a PhD from an accredited university in marine policy, marine affairs, fisheries, marine science, or closely related discipline.
