University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) doctoral student Sarah Clement requests input via a survey on research scientists' experiences leading or working on community and citizen science projects in the Arctic and sub-Arctic.

The research questions guiding this study include:

  • What are scientists’ motivations and goals for public engagement through community and citizen science projects?
  • Does leading or working on community and citizen science projects influence scientists' beliefs about their abilities to engage with the public, and if so, in what ways?
  • What other outcomes do scientists experience by leading or working on community and citizen science projects?

Only the research team at UAF will have access to identifiable data from this survey. Anonymized data will be used in a doctoral dissertation study, shared with other researchers, and may also be used in presentations. The team will not reveal participant names with the data in any of these materials.

Participating in this survey is voluntary, and respondents may stop participating at any time. Completing this survey will take between 10-20 minutes.

At the end of the survey there will be a space to volunteer for an interview to follow up on this survey. By adding your name and contact information in that space, you give the team permission to contact you about being interviewed for this study. Interviews will take place online and last between 45-60 minutes.
