The National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis invites applications for a temporary Data Fellow (Junior Specialist) position to engage in data science projects focused on social science disciplines and issues at the Arctic Data Center. This full-time, one-year position will be located in Santa Barbara, California.
The Data Science Fellow to work with the Arctic Data Center on projects that further support Arctic social science data preservation and management and/or the Arctic social science community directly. The Fellow will work closely with Community Outreach leads, Project Data Coordinators, and team members to identify and scope project activities.
Basic qualifications, required at time of application, include:
- A baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) in social sciences, natural sciences, computer science, or a related field at the time of application.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Familiarity with social science research and/or data science,
- Experience in data management and/or analysis,
- Experience or comfort with training others,
- Advanced degree or partial completion of advanced degree (e.g., M.S., MLIS), and
- Interest in developing open data science approaches to advancing social science research.
