The University of California – Davis invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in atmospheric chemistry. This full-time position will be for one year initially, with additional years upon mutual agreement, and will be located in Davis, California.

The postdoctoral researcher will work on a laboratory project investigating the photochemical reactions of brown carbon with reduced sulfur (i.e., S(IV)) in particle water. The goals are to quantify the kinetics of brown carbon oxidants with S(IV) in lab solutions and then apply the information to understand S(IV) oxidation in particles from Alaska collected during the ALPACA campaign. This extends the lab’s work quantifying particle oxidants and examining their impacts on particle.

Applicants should have a PhD in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, or a related field. Experience with wet chemistry laboratory research is required.

The position is available immediately, but the start date is flexible. The initial appointment will be for one year, with additional years contingent upon mutual agreement. Salary will be commensurate with experience and the position also includes health insurance and other benefits.

Applications must include a statement of interest, curriculum vitae, graduate transcript (unofficial is sufficient), the contact information for three references, and up to three authored papers. Applications should be submitted via email to Cort Anastasio at canastasio [at] ucdavis.edu as a single pdf, and will be reviewed until the position is filled.
