The Department of Environmental Science at Baylor University invites applications for a fully-funded PhD student to study atmospheric chemistry modeling. This position will be located in Waco, Texas.

Successful candidates will use atmospheric modeling tools across different temporal and spatial scales to better understand atmospheric chemistry and air quality-climate interactions. Specific projects include trace gas chemistry, aerosol-cloud interactions, urban air quality, extreme events (e.g., wildfire and dust) under a changing climate and their consequences on the Polar regions, and trends in greenhouse gas emissions and air quality co-benefits. Research involves extensive collaborations within and beyond the university. Funding is guaranteed for PhD students through fellowship and research and teaching assistantships.

Applicants must have a degree (MSc or equivalent) in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, chemistry, physics, or related fields with a grade point average better than B (English grade), and have basic knowledge of atmospheric chemistry. A strong background in math, chemistry, physics, and programming is preferred. The Department particularly values applicants with a robust track record of scientific research. Candidates should be fluent in English (written and spoken).

Applications should include a brief statement of research interest, a detailed curriculum vitae that includes detailed information on academic qualifications, transcripts, and contact information for two references.

Applications should be sent as one integrated PDF document to Yang Li at yang_li3 [at] baylor.edu.
