The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for summer research experience for undergraduates (REU). This program will take place online between 7 June and 31 July 2021.

This REU Site program is for Online Interdisciplinary Big Data Analytics in Science and Engineering. The program will run for eight weeks in the summer. Each student will be paid for their participation and provided with opportunities to present their work at conferences.

The two project topics planned for summer 2021 are:

  • Big Data and Machine Learning Techniques for Sea Ice Prediction, and
  • Big Data and Machine Learning Techniques for Medical Image Classification.

Undergraduates in all STEM fields are welcome to apply. As required by the National Science Foundation, only undergraduates from U.S. institutions who are citizen, national, or permanent residents of United States are eligible to apply.
