The Port of Nome is open for business to vessels transiting the Bering Sea.

The Port of Nome is open for business to fleets working the Bering Strait Region and Western Alaska coastline, including marine research vessels, all under the following conditions:

To slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus, all vessels arriving at the Port must have:

  1. Previously submitted and received approval of an operational plan describing how the following requirements will be met:

    • All crew/passengers will remain onboard to avoid contact with local residents, except;

      • Those needing non-emergency medical attention must first contact Norton Sound Health Corporation at 907-443-3311 to discuss transport protocol.
      • Those arriving via the Nome airport to board the vessel, must have already submitted an inbound travel form to the City Manager, transit directly to the vessel and remain on or around the vessel until departure. (Travel Form available at www.nomealaska.org)
      • Those departing the vessel for the Nome airport, or a prearranged quarantine location for a specific reason, must transit directly to these destinations.
      • Details regarding the needs described above must be provided to the Harbormaster at least 72 hours before the port call at 907-304-1906 or lstotts [at] nomealaska.org
    • Cargo, fuel, stores, parts and mail must be delivered to the dock by shoreside company personnel, or local expeditors for hire.

    • Any vessel repairs or services must be pre-arranged with the Harbormaster (907-304-1906)

  2. Anyone traveling into Nome to meet the vessel from outside of Alaska will be required to self-quarantine for 14-days if not able to board the vessel immediately.
