The Marine Chemistry & Geochemistry Department at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) invites applications for one or more scientists in marine chemistry and geochemistry at the Assistant Scientist level; however, qualified candidates may be considered at Associate Scientist without Tenure, Associate Scientist with Tenure, or Senior Scientist levels. These full-time, permanent positions will be located in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

The successful candidate(s) will conduct research in any area of marine chemistry and geochemistry that complements and strengthens existing programs on the chemistry of the ocean and its interactions with the Earth as a whole. Opportunities for interdisciplinary research exist through collaborations with colleagues in the other science departments, centers, and labs, as well as with researchers in the broader Woods Hole scientific community. Candidates hired at the junior level will receive an initial appointment for four years.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree and a record of scholarly publications commensurate with their career stage. Scientific Staff members are expected to develop independent, externally-funded, and internationally-recognized research programs, and have the option of advising graduate students and teaching courses through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)/WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography and Oceanographic Engineering.

Applications must be submitted online and should include, as a single PDF document, a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a three-page research statement, names of four references, and copies of up to three relevant publications.
