The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher with research interests in Arctic climate, Arctic cyclones, sea ice predictability, and programming in Python. This 12-month position, with possible extension depending on funding and performance, will be located in Seattle, Washington.

The successful applicant will work on several projects that pertain to Arctic sea ice and atmospheric sciences. Experience using Python to analyze climate data is required in this position to help maintain the sea ice prediction portal (https://atmos.uw.edu/sipn), used for the Sea Ice Outlook (https://www.arcus.org/sipn/sea-ice-outlook). Experience with Earth system models, especially involving sea ice, is desirable.

Applicants must hold a PhD or foreign equivalent in atmospheric sciences or a related field, and must be within six years of receiving their terminal degree.
