The Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) at the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for a Director of Administrative Operations. This full-time position will be located at CUNY in New York City, New York.

The Director of Administrative Operations will support the Executive Director in facilitating the day-to-day operations across the ASRC's scientific and administrative units (e.g.; legal, financial, health and safety, etc.).

The successful candidate will supervise staff and work closely with the five scientific initiative directors and core facility managers to provide the necessary assessments and improvements, on an ongoing basis, to ASRC's infrastructure, communication, facilities, and events management.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct regular reviews of business models, budgets, and administrative issues of core facilities;
  • Coordinate communication between the scientific initiative directors, core facility managers, and various operations in the ASRC, as well as the Graduate Center, CUNY Central, and other New York-area institutions as needed;
  • Work with colleagues at the Graduate Center and the ASRC to establish and chair operations-related committees as needed;
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and administrators regarding the Graduate Center’s and CUNY’s policies and procedures;
  • Conduct research, analysis, and strategic planning for ASRC initiatives and special projects;
  • Supervise the ASRC Director of Facilities and coordinate space allocation requests; and
  • Represent the ASRC at meetings with internal colleagues and external colleagues and stakeholders.

A Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience is required for this position. Preferred qualifications include a PhD, experience working in a scientific administration and/or scientific operation, knowledge of equipment associated with scientific research, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
