The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is currently accepting abstract submissions for the 2018 Fall Meeting. The meeting will be held 10-14 December 2018 in Washington, D.C.
Conveners of the following session invite abstract submissions:
SESSION 48315: Enhancing the Impact of Collaborative Global Environmental Change Science Through Project and Research Community Management
Conveners: Luisa Cristini, Brit Myers, Lou Woodley, and Carmen Boening
Modern research programs in geosciences are challenged by increasing requirements for inter- and trans-disciplinarity, societal relevance, educational outreach, as well as market oriented applications. These demands have elevated the need for science team professionals with specialized skills to ensure the fruitful collaboration of often large collaborative research programs, timely project delivery, and meaningful stakeholder engagement. For researchers or support staff involved in collaborative projects, this session is an opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices surrounding successful project management, research community coordination, and efforts to enhance the science-society interface. It provides an important opportunity to identify and discuss the core skillsets, professional development needs, and career opportunities available to the research project and community managers who represent an emerging profession in team-based science. It is also an opportunity for researchers to gain insight into how this expertise can be leveraged in global environmental change studies to promote science impact.
