The Oceanography Department of the Naval Postgraduate School invites applications for a research faculty member with expertise and a history of work in physical oceanography, student advising, and scientific writing. This non-tenure track position could be at the level of research assistant, associate, or full professor and will be located in Monterey, California.
The Oceanography Department of the Naval Postgraduate School has a long history in physical oceanography, ocean acoustics, high latitude and global ocean dynamics, ocean/sea ice analysis and prediction, ocean waves and turbulence, and nearshore processes. The Oceanography Department has facilities and vessels located in close proximity to the Monterey Bay, an experienced group of technical staff, and access to on-campus and Department of Defense high performance computational resources. The department promotes basic and applied research as well as interdisciplinary activities, and encourages research collaborations with industry, academia, and ocean science institutions located around the bay, and around the world.
Minimum qualifications include:
- A doctorate degree in an oceanography, engineering, or related field;
- Demonstrated publication record, commensurable to the applied position;
- Must currently hold or be eligible for a Secret clearance; and
- Be a U.S. citizen.
