This four-year fixed-term PhD position in Arctic Climate Science will
work with a project titled "Dynamic Observations of the Microstructural
Evolution of Firn" within the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth
College in Hanover, New Hampshire.

This position is open until filled.

The associated project will determine the mechanisms of firn
densification and microstructural evolution as a function of depth using
dynamic observations of the evolution of the firn using x-ray computed
microtomography.

Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the
drilling of a firn core at Summit, Greenland, in situ observations in
the microtomography of how the firn changes when subject to a
temperature gradient, and in situ microtomography observations of the
microstructural evolution using a compression stage will be completed.

Applicants must hold an undergraduate and/or MS degree in engineering or
a physical science.
