The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) announces a call for
applications, nominations, and expressions of interest for the position
of Chancellor. This position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The chancellor serves as the university's chief executive officer and is
appointed by and reports to the University of Alaska (UA) system
president. The new chancellor will be expected to assume office by July
2017 or as soon thereafter as feasible.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks, serving approximately 10,000
students, with 1,900 employees, is the flagship university of the
statewide University of Alaska system. It is a Land, Sea, and Space
Grant university and an international center for research, education,
and the arts, emphasizing the circumpolar North and its diverse peoples.
This position will manage a large, complex organization with multiple
service lines, develop a strong leadership team, and work with different
constituencies. The successful candidate will develop and deliver
strategic direction, promote the importance of higher education and
research to the future of Alaska, successfully market the organization
nationally and internationally, and communicate well in both formal and
informal settings. The successful candidate will also possess an
advanced degree as well as significant and progressive professional
leadership and management experience. Completion of a terminal degree
and academic administrative leadership experience is preferred.
