The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) Marine Fisheries
Advisory Committee (MAFAC) is seeking participants for a short online
survey. Stakeholders and others interested in fisheries and aquaculture
are encouraged to participate. The survey is voluntary and will be open
until Monday, 28 November 2016.
The goal of this survey is to help MAFAC learn more about the types of
information resources fishery stakeholders need and use regarding the
effects of large-scale environmental change on fisheries, aquaculture,
and coastal communities, as well as information about the leaders they
trust, and what information formats they find useful. The survey
includes 14 questions and will take about 10 minutes to complete.
MAFAC will use the information gathered in this survey to formulate
recommendations for NOAA regarding the information needs of
stakeholders, how NOAA communicates with stakeholders, and which tools
or methods are most useful.
Participants are welcome forward the survey link to their members,
partners, and networks.
Survey deadline: Monday, 28 November 2016.

10-Year Research Plan
Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology
National Science and Technology Council
The Subcommittee on Ocean Science and Technology (SOST), under the
National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), is requesting written
input on the structure and content of their upcoming 10-year ocean
research plan, tentatively titled "Ocean Research in the Coming Decade."
This new plan will supersede the NSTC's "Charting the Course for Ocean
Science in the United States for the Next Decade: An Ocean Research
Priorities Plan and Implementation Strategy," that was published in 2007
and updated in 2013.
The new plan will describe the most pressing research questions and most
promising areas of opportunity within the ocean science and technology
(S&T) enterprise for the coming decade. The plan will set the stage for
actions across federal agencies and with non-federal entities to address
societal needs and issues of national importance.
The SOST invites all interested parties to provide input relevant to the
Nation's ocean S&T enterprise. Suggestions directed toward how the plan
should be structured and specific topic areas that should be considered
for inclusion are particularly encouraged. Additional information on the
public input period is available online at the Federal Register Notice.
Public input deadline: 1 January 2017.
