  1. Call for Conference Registration
    Time Series Analysis in Environmental Science and Applications to
    Climate Change
    Fixed-Point Open Ocean Observatories
    8-11 November 2016
    Tromso, Norway

Organizers of a conference entitled "Time series analysis in
environmental science and applications to climate change" announce a
call for registration. This conference will convene 8-11 November 2016
in Tromso, Norway.

The goal of the conference is to provide a discussion forum in the field
of time series analysis and forecasting based on in-situ and remote data
analysis and modeling. This conference will gather senior and young
researchers (post-doctoral, doctoral and master students) to share their
experience in time series interpretation across several scientific
fields. Presentations will show how observations can help detect climate
change and its impacts focusing on both the mathematical modeling,
statistics, signal processing , and the environmental scientific results.

Conference themes:

  • Marine environment and connections with land and atmosphere (e.g.,sea
    ice, atmospheric measurement, foraminifera, biogeochemistry);
  • Sea level;
  • Methane measurements and analysis;
  • Ocean carbon cycle; and
  • Mathematical tools to understand climate change.

This conference is part of a series of conferences gathering a wide
community to be integrated in the ESONET-Vi (-the vision) consortium
that builds upon ESONET, EuroSITES, EMSO, FixO3 and ENVRIPLUS partners.
It is funded by European Commission through FP7 Integrated
Infrastructure Initiative FixO3 and H2020 ENVRIPLUS.

Grant applications are available to students.

To register, send completed regular or student application forms via
email to: Time.Series.Conf [at] ifremer.fr.

Deadline for registration: Sunday, 25 September 2016.

  1. Call for Session Proposals
    SCAR/IASC Open Science Conference POLAR2018
    15-17 June 2018
    Davos, Switzerland

The organizers of the joint Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research
(SCAR) and International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) Open Science
Conference POLAR2018 entitled "Where the Poles Meet" announce a call for
session proposals. The meeting includes the XXXV SCAR Biennial Meetings,
the Arctic Science Summit Week 2018 and the joint SCAR and IASC Open
Science Conference. The conference will convene 15 - 27 June 2018 in
Davos, Switzerland.

Organizers are looking for sessions that cover a broad range of topics
across the spectrum of polar and high altitude research, such as, but
not limited to, climate, glaciology, social and human sciences, ice
sheets, atmospheric sciences, oceanography, biology, astronomy, geology,
economic aspects, sustainable development, technology, and education.
There will be oral and poster sessions as well as e-poster sessions.

Session convener responsibilities include:

  • Soliciting submissions for their session;
  • Reviewing the abstracts submitted for the session;
  • Working with the International Scientific Organizing Committee to
    arrange the program of their session, including oral and poster
    presentations; and
  • Chairing the session.

The organizing committee strongly encourages session topics that
encapsulate research conducted in both the Arctic and Antarctic.
Including early career scientists as conveners and encourage diversity
regarding conveners' nationalities, gender, and where possible,
indigenous peoples is also encouraged.

Depending on the session proposals received, the International
Scientific Organizing Committee may decide to merge similar session
where necessary and appropriate.

To submit session proposals, including a brief session description, the
contact information of the session conveners, and other session details;
please use the template available online:
http://www.polar2018.org/call-for-sessions.html or
http://www.polar2018.org/session-proposals.html (please note this page uses
google forms. If the use of google forms is blocked by your institute,
please email polar2018 [at] slf.ch to receive a word document.)

Deadline for session proposal submissions: 30 November 2016.

Lead conveners will be notified on 31 March 2017 and the final list of
sessions will be announced in 2017.

Abstract submissions will open on 1 September 2017 with a submission
deadline not earlier than 1 November 2017 and notification of acceptance
after 31 January 2018.
