Nord University announces a Professor position in Maritime focused
business administration. The position is permanent and based in Bodo,
Norway.
The position will have a focus on maritime transportation and logistics,
offshore resources and the development of maritime infrastructure in the
Arctic, specifically North Norway and the Northern Sea Route (NSR). The
scope of responsibility for the position involves both research and
teaching.
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Further develop existing study programmes as well as new courses and
programmes in the field;
- Contribute to existing research networks within maritime
transportation and logistics at the Business School and externally;
- Initiate and aquire funding for new research in the field, and prepare
at least one application to the Research Council and/or other research
funding institutions annually; and
- Network with industry in the field of Arctic marine transportation and
logistics.
Applicants must qualify as a professor or associate professor
within the field of maritime business.

The Centre for High North Logistics (CHNL) at Nord University announces
an opening for Centre Manager. The position is available for a fixed
term of four years and based in Kirkenes, Norway.
The manager will report to the Dean at Nord University
Business School and to the Centre's Board of Directors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
-Establishing the network organisation for CHNL both towards other
entities at the Business School and to other academic institutions with
activites within the subject area, particularly UiT The Arctic
University of Norway and Norwegian University of Science and Technology
(NTNU);
-Maintaining and developing relations both nationally and
internationally to strenghten cooperation in research and education
within maritime transport and logistics in the Arctic between CHNL and
institutions in the Nordic countries, US, Canada, Russia and
Northeast-Asia.
The successful applicant must have a master degree and preferably
a Ph.D., as well as experience from management and good knowledge
of maritime operations in The High North. Good command of
Norwegian (or other Scandinavian language) as well as English is
required.

Yukon College announces the availability of a postdoctoral position in
the area of First Nations Governance issues. This position is based at
the Yukon Research Centre at Yukon College in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.
A postdoctoral fellow is being recruited for this project, based on
demonstrated achievements, skill, and enthusiasm for northern
community-based participatory research. The overarching goal of this
project is to discover how a self-governing First Nation can move beyond
participating in government-led processes for management of natural
resources (via "contribution" of traditional knowledge) towards the
expression of an authentic indigenous ethic for environmental
stewardship that such policy and regulatory processes could ultimately
be reoriented around. The ideal candidate will have skills and
experience related to community-based participatory research,
traditional knowledge, northern indigenous paradigms, cultural values,
language accessibility, archiving, values revitalization, First Nation
self-governance, and/or resource co-management.
The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to be involved
in an established and productive applied researcher-First Nation
collaboration. The fellow will be based at the Yukon Research Centre
(YRC) at Yukon College in Whitehorse, but will be jointly affiliated
with University of Saskatchewan, supervised by the Project Director.
This will give the PDF the opportunity to be part of an active, growing,
respected northern research organization, while accessing research
support offered by the University of Saskatchewan (e.g., journal
resources, symposia, subject matter experts). The fellow will also spend
time working from the offices of the Champagne and Aishihik First
Nations (CAFN) in Whitehorse and Haines Junction, Yukon.
