Organizers announce a call for abstract submissions for a cryosphere
session entitled "Arctic sea ice cover in decline: impacts on the
interactions in the atmosphere-snow-ice-ocean-eco-system" that will
convene during the AGU 2016 Fall Meeting being held December 12-16 in
San Francisco, California.

Session Organizers: Mats Granskog, Von Patrick Walden, Lars Henrik
Smedsrud, and Marcel Nicolaus.

Session Description: The Arctic sea ice cover is transforming from
thicker perennial ice to a thinner seasonal ice pack. There is a
significant need to understand the ongoing changes in the sea ice cover
and its effects on the interaction between atmosphere-snow-ice-ocean and
effects on the marine ecosystem, to be able to predict future changes.
This session intends to provide an interdisciplinary forum for
researchers working on observations and models to understand the ongoing
changes. We solicit submission from recent Arctic studies that include
interdisciplinary aspects involving multiple components of the Artic
Ocean system and improves our process-level understanding in the thinner
sea ice regime. Such key processes include, changes in ocean heat,
stratification and mixing, solar radiation, cloud properties, and
effects on primary production. Studies setting recent conditions in
context, of e.g. the SHEBA experiment, in modeling studies or utilizing
re-analysis data are also welcomed.

Abstract submission deadline: Wednesday, 3 August 2016.
