Arctic Research Plan 2017-2012

The Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) is currently
soliciting information from the Arctic research community and the public
to help shape the next Arctic Research Plan for FY 17-21. They are
looking for funded projects or programs that could benefit from enhanced
collaboration.

Recommendations from the public and the Arctic research community will
be taken until the end of March. Contributions to the IARPC draft plan
are invited via an online survey form prior to drafting the plan, which
will begin in early April 2016.

SUMMARY INFORMATION FROM IARPC:

Research Goals to be included in the next 5-year research plan:

  1. Health, 2. Atmosphere, 3. Sea Ice, 4. Marine Ecology, 5. Glaciers and
    Sea Level, 6. Coastal Dynamics, 7. Permafrost Dynamics, 8. Terrestrial
    Ecology, and 9. Environmental Intelligence.

The survey prompt questions are:

  • Please indicate your ideas for projects or programs to be incorporated
    as objectives and/or performance elements into the 9 research goals. If
    the proposed objectives and/or performance elements are currently
    funded, please indicate the funding source and duration.

  • Communication, coordination, and collaboration will be important as
    IARPC seeks to accomplish the goals and research objectives. Please
    indicate how you think communication, coordination, and collaboration
    can best be accomplished.

  • Would you like to provide any other input to the preparation of the
    Arctic Research Plan 2017-2021?
