The Association for Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) is seeking
bids for a host and sponsors for their International Directorate Office
starting February 2017. An initial expression of interest is required by
30 April 2016 with final bids due on 20 June 2016.

APECS is an international and interdisciplinary organization for
undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early
career faculty members, educators and other professionals interested in
the Polar and Alpine regions and the wider cryosphere.

APECS is seeking a host and sponsor(s) for their International
Directorate Office starting February 2017. APECS is open to having
either:

  • One secretariat location with one or more institutions providing the
funding to host this secretariat and support its activities for at
least one and ideally two full-time staff position(s); OR
  • A dispersed secretariat option with: the main full-time staff position
(Executive Director) being hosted / funded by one or more institutions
in one location; support-position(s) (part-time or full-time) being
hosted and funded by other institutions / countries in another location.

This call is comprised of a two-stage process with an initial expression
of interest due 30 April 2016 followed by full bids from those that
submitted expressions of interest due on 20 June 2016.

While APECS is open to considering a variety of institutional
arrangements, it does expect a particular commitment of institutional
resources to the International Directorate and its staff. APECS is
anticipating arrangements with a new organizational host of at least 3
years and preferably 5+ years. The APECS Executive Committee reserves
the right to be involved in the hiring of APECS office staff and give
final approval for the successful candidate(s). It is anticipated that
the current APECS staff will move to the new main Directorate host.
