Dr. Marc Stieglitz Appointed as Arctic Natural Sciences Program Director

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marc Stieglitz as a
Program Director for Arctic Natural Sciences (ANS) in the Arctic
Sciences section in the Division of Polar Programs, Geosciences
Directorate. Dr. Stieglitz began his service at NSF on 1 September, 2015
and is replacing Dr. Ming-Yi Sun.
Dr. Stieglitz is joining NSF from Georgia Institute of Technology where
he holds an appointment as Associate Professor of Environmental
Engineering and School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Dr.
Stieglitz holds an M.S. in Applied Geophysics and Ph.D. in Geological
Sciences from Columbia University. Dr. Stieglitz research interests are
at the interfaces between hydrology, biology and biogeochemistry and he
has expertise in remote sensing and cyberinfrastructure.
We welcome Dr. Stieglitz to NSF and look forward to working with him to
advance Arctic science.
