  1. Call for Abstracts
Interdisciplinary Polar Studies in Svalbard (IPSiS)
    18-24 September 2015
    Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway

Organizers of the Interdisciplinary Polar Studies in Svalbard (IPSiS)
meeting announce a call for abstracts. The conference will take place in
Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway on 20-21 September 2015 and will be
accompanied by field workshops for young researchers in the Longyearbyen
area (18-19 September 2015) and in Hornsund (22-24 September 2015).

The IPSiS main goal is to facilitate international and interdisciplinary
cooperation in studies on the interactive effects of climate change on
Arctic nature and societies. The meeting has a special focus on young
scientists and PhD students in particular, and is meant to enable them
to share ideas and acquire new skills and experiences in Arctic
research, mainly by participating in the field workshops. The conference
part of IPSiS will provide a venue where scientists, authorities,
entrepreneurs and local inhabitants will have an opportunity to meet,
exchange experience and discuss monitoring the current climate change
and its effects in the Arctic. The plenary sessions of the conference
will be open to general audience including Longyearbyen citizens,
authorities and entrepreneurs.

Abstracts of oral presentations and posters are welcomed for submission.
A booklet of abstracts will be prepared and available as a PDF file.

Workshop application deadline: 15 May 2015.

  1. Registration Available
    1st Central European Polar Meeting
    10 November 2015
    Vienna, Austria

Organizers of the 1st Central European Polar Meeting announce the
availability of registration. The meeting will be held 10 November 2015
in Vienna, Austria.

In 2015 the 100th anniversary of the death of Austrian polar explorer
Julius Payer takes place. To commemorate Payer's achievements in
international polar sciences, this meeting is being organized to bring
together polar researchers from Central European countries and beyond.
It will include distinguished senior scientists, but also early career
scientists and the next generation of polar researchers.

Besides presentation of newest results from ongoing research activities,
the conference is one of the first international activities of the newly
established Central European Polar Partnership, which aims at increasing
the visibility and coordinating polar research in and between the
participating countries.

Abstract submission deadline: 31 July 2015.
