The Western Alaska Landscape Conservation Cooperative (LCC) announces
two Requests for Proposals for fall 2013. Further information on both
opportunities is available on the Western Alaska LCC website, at:
https://westernalaskalcc.org/projects/SitePages/rfp.aspx.

One is for projects linked to 'Changes in Freshwater Temperatures and
Its Impacts.' Proposals are sought in three topic areas:

- Develop the base standards for water temperature data collection
in Alaska for use in regional-scale analysis of ecosystem status and
trends.
- Develop an implementation strategy for the coordination of a
voluntary water temperature monitoring network within any of the 5
geographic regions of the Western Alaska LCC.
- Describe the impacts of changes in water temperature on important
resources in western Alaska through synthesis of existing data,
integrative research, or vulnerability assessments.

The proposal submission deadline is Monday, 14 October 2013 at 8:00 p.m.
Alaska time.

The other addresses new strategies in LCC Outreach. A maximum of one
project will be funded for each of the following topics:

- Development and hosting of a smartphone app for the identification
and documentation of invasive plants in Alaska.
- Development of an outreach/science product overviewing current
coastal change studies and related priority information needs in
western Alaska.
- Improvement of Western Alaska LCC's utilization of social media,
particularly Facebook, in its communication and outreach activities.

The proposal submission deadline is Monday, 21 October 2013 at 12:00
p.m. Alaska time.
