Dear Colleague Letter
Polar CyberInfrastructure Program Director

Division of Polar Programs
National Science Foundation

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Marco Tedesco has joined the
Division of Polar Programs as the Program Director for Polar
Cyberinfrastructure. Cyberinfrastructure is an important enabler of
research generally and so investments in the polar regions are a
priority for the Division. Information about the program can be found
at: http://www.arcus.org/witness-the-arctic/2013/1/article/19613.

Dr. Tedesco comes from the City College of New York where he is
Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
His background in remote sensing of snow covered regions and his recent
work aimed at improving estimates of surface mass balance of the
Greenland Ice Sheet gives him a particularly useful perspective for
leading our effort in cyberinfrastructure. Marco's responsibilities
cover both Arctic and Antarctic aspects of the Division of Polar
Programs so we hope you will reach out to him for your
cyberinfrastructure interests no matter where your geographic interests
lie. Marco can be reached at 703-292-7120 or mtedesco [at] nsf.gov.

We are delighted to have Marco in Polar Programs to help advance our
cyberinfrastructure interests and hope you will join us in welcoming him
to NSF.

Sincerely,

Scott Borg
