The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) announces the
eighth and final webinar in the Fall 2012 Career Development Webinar
Series, scheduled for Tuesday, 27 November 2012 at 5:00 p.m. GMT. For

This week's webinar is entitled "The (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change) IPCC Second Assessment and Lessons in Confronting Climate
Deniers." It will be presented by Ben Santer, research scientist at the
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Santer was one of the lead
authors of the IPCC's Second Assessment Report, and in that capacity
played a key role in the genesis of the "balance of evidence" statement
that formally articulated human contributions to global climate change.
He will share valuable insight from the evolution of the IPCC process,
and discuss the many lessons he has learned since the IPCC report during
the process of responding to climate change myths and disinformation
with sound science.
