TO: Arctic Researchers Interested in Education--Volunteer to review
education proposals

Dear Colleague:

One of the goals in the (U.S.) National Science Strategic Plan (1995) is
the integration of research and education. Many Arctic researchers are
interested in participating in some of the Education Programs funded by the
National Science Foundation such as Teacher Enhancement, Instructional
Materials Development, or Informal Science Education. Successful grant
proposals for these programs have elements not found in the typical
research proposal.

One way for Arctic researchers to begin to understand what a good education
proposal looks like is to review education proposals. If you want to
volunteer as a reviewer for education proposals, please fill out the
reviewer information form found on the Internet at
http://arcus.polarnet.com/Education/Education.html. Return it to the
email address noted at the bottom of the form or to the National Science
Foundation, Arctic Social Sciences Program, Office of Polar Programs,
Arlington, VA 22230. We will coordinate with the Directorate for Education
and Human Resources (EHR). If one of the Education programs chooses you as
a reviewer, you will be contacted by that program.
