Arctic Icebreaker Coordinating Committee Meeting at ASLO 97

There will be an information meeting at ASLO 97 convened by members of the
UNOLS Arctic Icebreaker Coordinating Committee (AICC) to explain what they
have been tasked to do by the US Coast Guard and the NSF. The meeting will
be held in room East 2 of the Sweeney Convention Center at 5:30PM on
Wednesday, February 12th, immediately following the afternoon session.
Topics of discussion will include coordinating future science missions,
adopting a UNOLS format for ship scheduling, science-of-opportunity
guidelines, oversight of the science-related opperations of the USCGC
HEALY, continuity of technical support, etc. Please come, listen and
provide your views to the AICC. Community input is essential to formulate
the best policies to maximize the usefulness of the scientific resources
available for future Arctic programs.

A USCG representative or members of the AICC will be also available
at a bulletin board set up near the registration area in Sweeney from
Tuesday through Thursday. Information about the HEALY and its operations
