Call for Nominations in TEA program

Dear Arctic Researcher,

The National Science Foundation supports the integration of science
education and research. Special emphasis on the integration of research and
education is given by the Office of Polar Programs through the program
"Teachers Experiencing Antarctica and the Arctic," or TEA.

Teachers are selected to travel to the Arctic or the Antarctic for all or
part of a field season to participate in ongoing research. Additional
travel to the principal investigator's lab is supported for orientation and
data analysis. Funding is provided by the NSF's Division of Elementary,
Secondary, and Informal Science Education (ESIE) and the Office of Polar
Programs (OPP).

Principal investigators are encouraged to nominate high school teachers for
participation. Teacher nominations should be received no later than November
6, 1998. Please provide full contact information, including postal address,
fax, phone, and e-mail address. Application forms will be sent to the
teacher nominees.
